“Chimp Management are delighted to be supporting individuals within the local community to learn new skills and find employment. The Mind Management Skills for Life programme offers valuable insight into how our mind works, and how we can adopt skills to help us to manage our thoughts, feelings and emotions. By managing our mind more effectively we can help reduce our levels of stress and anxiety, whilst improving confidence, happiness and psychological wellbeing. Our aim is to help jobseekers develop these skills so that they are in the best possible place when applying for roles and attending interviews.”
Good Work Skills is a free, innovative programme that supports people to achieve their employment goals. Adults will receive one-to-one support from an employment specialist and earn digital skills badges that are valued by local employers. The badges can also be used on a CV, on job sites, and in interviews. Wellbeing and financial support is also available, and the support continues when a person secures paid employment to ensure they settle and thrive in that job role.
To be eligible for Good Work Skills, people should be:
- Aged 25 or over.
- Unemployed.
- Live in Sheffield, Rotherham, Barnsley or Doncaster.
- Have a health condition and/or are experiencing low mental wellbeing.
South Yorkshire Housing Association’s Good Work service has been appointed by the South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority (SYMCA) as an authorised training provider for the Adult Education Budget and will be helping people in South Yorkshire to improve their skills, get back to work and remain and progress in their roles.
“We are excited about the launch of SYHA’s Good Work Skills service. We hope that the devolution of the Adult Education Budget has created the right conditions for innovative provision like SYHA’s Good Work Skills service to be developed. This new provision looks set to provide valuable support to people in South Yorkshire to get the skills they need to progress.”
